About Prison Health Services
Prison Health Services (PHS) is a rapidly growing division within the West Moreton Hospital and Health Service region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners and Young Persons within the following correctional facilities:
Brisbane Correctional Centre (BCC);
Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre (BWCC);
Wolston Correctional Centre (WCC);
Borallon Training and Correctional Centre (BTCC);
Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre (AGCC);
Brisbane Youth Detention Centre (BYDC);
West Moreton Youth Detention Centre (WMYDC); and
Southern Queensland Correctional Centre (SQCC).
PHS also provides some in-reach support services to the Helena Jones Centre as an annexure of BWCC.
Dedicated teams are based in health clinics within each correctional facility. Service delivery is coordinated in close collaboration with Department of Youth Justice and Queensland Correctional Services under the specific regulations and routine of each individual centre.
About the role
As the Registered Nurse Prison Health Services, you will provide contemporary, evidence-based nursing services and demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by achievement of the standards of practice and registration requirements from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).
Prison Health Services has varied operating hours at each centre. Prison Health Services is a seven-day service with either 24/7 roster or two-shift roster (AM and PM), with centres varying between 8-hour, 9.5 hour, and 12 hour rotating shifts.
It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against COVID-19.
