Post Op is redefining the way patients recover after surgery, leveraging technology to help clinicians ensure their patients are recovering, as well as preventing and minimising infections or complications. Founded in 2019 by two orthopaedic surgeons - Dr Chindu Kabir and Dr Faizal Rayan - Post Op is a comprehensive and intuitively designed monitoring app, enabling clinicians to reduce the need for face to face appointments.
Use of the app and its benefits has been backed up by two research papers published in 2024 in conjunction with Kettering General Hospital. The first showed savings of over £60,000 per 100 patients in General Surgery for NHS Trusts, and the second showed patient satisfaction of using the app at over 70%, helping them from taking up valuable GP or outpatient appointments. Post Op has key features supporting Infection Prevention and Control teams. They include infection monitoring of patient wounds, supporting and educating patients in surgical site infection (SSI) surveillance, streamlined UKSHA SSI data collection and direct reporting, as well as innovative features such as SSI infection detection.
