World Continence Week Webinar Series 2022
A WELCOME LETTER FROM EDITOR OF NURSING TIMES, STEVE FORD:
Dear colleague,
I have the pleasure of welcoming you to our essential skills webinar series for World Continence Care Week, sponsored by an educational grant from Essity. Over the series of five webinars our expert speakers will help you develop your practice and improve the quality of continence care.
These skills are vital as incontinence is a major problem in the UK with around 14 million adults affected by urinary incontinence and 6.5 million reporting problems with bowel control.
Unfortunately, these numbers are likely to be higher, as patients with symptoms are often reluctant to seek help. This can lead to physical, social isolation and psychological problems, along with financial concerns. Given these challenges, it is important that every nurse is confident to talk to patients about bladder and bowel health.
Our expert contributors will explore the key principles of care for male incontinence, transgender patients, children with complex needs and their transition to adult services, patients with acute stroke and their transition to community services, and how digital technologies can help improve access and support the care of patients with continence problems.
I hope you will take away valuable learning from this webinar series that you can put into practice in your clinical area, and I hope you will share these webinars with your colleagues so they receive the support they need to give the best possible continence care to their patients.
