NTC onLine 2023
Dear Delegates,
Welcome to Nursing Times Careers onLine. Today is all about helping you take the next step in your career and is designed to make it easy for you to meet potential new employers.
Just like our physical events, the day is all about helping you make the next step on your career journey and is designed to make it easy for you to meet potential new employers. Through our virtual events platform, Swapcard, you will be able to connect with exhibitors, arrange interviews and watch back anything on the programme that you missed.
You will have the chance to ask exhibitors about what it is like to work at their organisation, the training and development opportunities, and what the local area is like and even get a new job – but all from the comfort of your own home.
We also have a great speaker programme and mentor networking opportunities, including a special session to mark the NHS 75th anniversary this year. Nurse educators Dr Claire Chatterton and Dr Tamsin Smith will be celebrating the contribution of nurses to the NHS since 1948.
Next will be a panel discussion on moving to the UK and progressing your career as a nurse. Our guest speakers include Rohit Sagoo, founder and director of British Sikh Nurses, and Ronke Ajidahun, from Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
After that we will gain insight into a career in nursing research, including a fascinating project on witches, from Professor Nicola Ring, associate head of nursing for research and innovation at Edinburgh Napier University. To follow, we will have a variety of career case studies.
Last but not least, we will finish with a session on promoting inclusive working environments for nurses and midwifes. Our panel includes Nafiza Anwar, director and co-founder of the Association of South Asian Midwives, and Sara Kovach-Clark, assistant policy director at the Nursing and Midwifery Council. After each presentation, you will have the opportunity to take part in a live question and answer session with the speakers.
I would like to thank our speakers – Claire, Tamsin, Rohit, Ronke, Nicola, Nafiza and Sara and also extend a huge thank you to our exhibitors for their time today.
Share your thoughts and tweet using the hashtag #NTCL. Happy job hunting!
Best wishes
