NTCL Midlands 2020
A welcome letter to all attendees from editor of Nursing Times, Steve Ford.
On behalf of everyone at Nursing Times, welcome to Nursing Times Careers Live Midlands, our first ever virtual careers fair.
Just like our physical events, today is all about helping you make the next step on your career journey and is designed to make it easy for you to meet potential new employers.
Through our virtual events platform, you will be able to connect with exhibitors, arrange interviews and watch back anything on the programme that you missed.
You will have the chance to ask exhibitors about what it is like to work at their organisation, the training and development opportunities, and what the local area is like – but all from the comfort of your own home.
As well as the opportunity of ending the day with a new job, you will have the opportunity to be inspired by our guest speakers.
Our programme includes timely sessions on adapting to the ‘new normal’ with Julia Holding, a clinical volunteer at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, and supporting nurse wellbeing during Covid-19 with Emma Selby, mental health nurse consultant and director of digital mentality.
We will also hear what it’s like to work at Devon Partnership NHS Trust, our headline exhibitor, and tips on how to become a successful ward manager with Dawn Jarvis, founder and chief executive of The Diverse Nurse.
For those at the start of their nursing journey, our live student reception will give you the opportunity to discuss key topics such as placements and preceptorships. Our special guest is Saira Sajid, a third -year adult nursing student at Sheffield Hallam University and one of our 2019-20 Nursing Times student editors.
After each presentation, you will have the opportunity to take part in a live question and answer session with the speaker. Plus, you can also join discussion chat rooms with selected speakers to follow up with more questions via the chat function.
We would like to thank our speakers – Julia Holding, Sarah Burdford, Dawn Jarvis, Emma Selby and Saira Sajid.
We would also like to thank our sponsors and exhibitors.
Share your thoughts and tweet using the hashtag #NTCL. Happy job hunting!
Best wishes
Steve Ford, editor, Nursing Times and chair of Nursing Times Careers Live
