We are seeking a Head of Safeguarding (adults and children) incorporating the responsibilities for the named professional role for adult safeguarding at North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT). This is a key leadership role for the Trust, you will be working closely with the Director of Nursing and Quality who holds board responsibility for safeguarding . You will lead the delivery of the safeguarding plan and continue to foster a culture which encourages high quality practice, knowledge and learning at all levels across all professions, demonstrating sustainable improvement in the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and children. Your team includes the named nurse for safeguarding children and the safeguarding practitioners for adults and midwifery. You will work closely with the Divisional Directors of Nursing / Midwifery. You will be expected to have a clear understanding of the national safeguarding agenda and NHS England’s statutory responsibilities, as set out in the NHS England Accountability and Assurance Framework (July 2015). You will work with the Trust legal team on complex cases involving legal proceedings and Court of Protection. You will ensure that NBT is compliant with local and national best practice standards and with statutory safeguarding responsibilities as set out in the Children Act (2004), Working together to safeguard children (2018) and the Care Act (2014). You will also ensure that NBT meets regulatory compliance with CQC Regulation 13: Safeguarding service users from abuse and improper treatment. You will also be an expert in MCA/DoLS and the Trust lead. This role will provide strategic and expert advice on system safeguarding issues working closely with our multi-agency partners including the Local Authority and the Local Safeguarding Boards.
